SKA: The Sejong Korean Language Assessment

The Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) is a basic and practical Korean language test that assesses the Korean language communication ability of Korean language learners around the world.

Objective of the exam

This exam aims to establish an effective Korean language learning path for people whose native language is not Korean and to promote the use of the Korean language.

Eligibility

  • Those who learning Korean as a second or foreign language

Exam level and score

  • Exam level: SKA1 (beginner), SKA2 (intermediate)
    Assessment score: 8 levels (Beginner 1 ~ Intermediate 4)
  • Subject: 4 subjects (listening, reading, writing/speaking)

Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) Implementation Method

For the listening and reading tests, 30 multiple-choice questions must be answered in 30 and 40 minutes respectively, and for reading, 13 multiple-choice and subjective questions must be answered in 50 minutes, with a total score of 100 points.

The oral test lasts 15 minutes to answer 6 subjective questions and is also worth 100 points.

Use of test results

  • Employment in domestic and international companies requiring Korean language skills
  • Obtaining residence visas such as permanent residence and employment
  • Proof of Korean language proficiency for academic purposes, such as admission or graduation from a university or college
