2024 Quiz on Korea

Attention to all Hallyu fans in Canada!

Hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Montreal, 2024 Quiz on Korea Canada Preliminary Round is taking place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1 pm at the King Sejong Institute in Montreal (3285 Boul Cavendish Suite 200, Montréal, QC H4B 2L9).

Quiz on Korea is an annual gameshow that quizzes non-Korean adults on their knowledge of Korean culture, social news, history, etc.

Countries around the world will hold preliminary rounds in which one winner is chosen to move to the final round in Korea. The finalists will appear on a special television segment broadcast by the national public broadcaster, KBS. Flights to Korea and accommodations will be provided to each finalist- so don’t miss out on this incredible chance to win a free trip to Korea!

Depending on the difficulty level, questions may only be presented in English or only in Korean.

[Entry Eligibility]

Applicants should be 18 years of age or older (as of May 11, 2024)
Applicants should hold legal status in Canada or Canadian citizenship***

Please note: All applicants are eligible to win the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes (Samsung products), however only those with a Canadian passport are eligible for the grand prize of travel to Korea and moving forward to the final round. Everybody will receive a participation prize (Korean goods).

Applicant cannot hold and should have never held Korean nationality or ethnicity (or have any immediate family members holding Korean nationality or ethnicity)
Should be available to participate in the preliminary round in-person at the King Sejong Institute in Montreal (on May 11, 2024)
Applicants should have genuine interest in and knowledge of Korea and Korean culture.

[Grand prize Eligibility]

The Grand Prize winner can use a Canadian passport as a Canadian citizen.
The Grand Prize winner should be available for travel to Korea for the final round of the competition which will take place in early September 2024.
The Grand Prize winner must not have previously participated in the Quiz on Korea Final Round held in Korea.

Grand prize: A free trip to Korea for the final round (Only applicable to a Canadian citizen).

2nd place: Galaxy Watch6
3rd place: Galaxy Buds2 pro
Participation prizes: Korean goods

[Evaluation]

All applications will be screened and only qualified applicants will receive an email invitation with full event details to participate in the 2024 Quiz on Korea- Canada Preliminary Round by Friday, May 3, 2024.

[KBS 2024 Quiz on Korea Final Round in Korea]

Date: Sunday, September 8, 2024

A week-long tour program (9.1-9.9) in Korea will be provided for all final round contestants.

All final round contestants must participate with their legal name and will be filmed and broadcasted during their Korea tour and final round.

The tour and the final round will be conducted in Korean only. No translation will be provided.
